My editorial calendar

Today I want to share with you my ideas for this blog, the kind of content I would like to post and when, and ask for your feedback and ideas.

As you may have read in the page where I describe why I decided to launch this blog, I am keen to reach more people who are interested in Compensation & Benefits in general, and in emerging markets as well. I will strive to write some posts specific to C&B in the Middle East/GCC region.

I have given a lot of thought to the kind of questions I get from current and past HR generalist colleagues, my peers in Compensation & Benefits, as well as line managers who have to deal with employee situations and questions and want to learn how to handle these circumstances.

My idea currently is to try and post 3 times per week, on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Most of the time, the posts will be related to topics of C&B interest, my reactions to some of the industry news, and some ideas I’d like to share.

Every other week on “Sunday Skills” I’d like to present some “technical” tips loosely covering how to use Excel and other tools useful in C&B, social media, presentation tips and analytics. I am a bit of a geek myself – well… at least compared to the average HR person 😉 – and I love to experiment with the tools and processes available to me. All these tips will strive to be useful to C&B professionals and will help make your life easier.

I will also cover, every other week on Tuesday, a “Reader Question”. Of course in C&B there is no right or wrong answer, so it will mostly be my point of view and how I would react if I were to be faced with the situation. I hope that you, my readers, will also share your opinion on these matters, and will provide other options to be considered.

Once a month I intend to share some of the best blog posts I have read, related to governance, management, networking and social media, and sometimes some articles on Compensation & Benefits or relevant to HR in the Middle East. This section will be fittingly called “Share the Knowledge”.

Once a month I will also post on the “Career Corner”, where I will share thoughts and tips on how to have a good evolution in Compensation & Benefits, whether you are interested in becoming an expert or specialist, or whether you intend to simply spend a few years on the topic on your way to become a full-fledged HR generalist.

So – that’s it for now. I’ll be interested to hear your feedback. Are there topics you are particularly interested in ? Would you like to read a series of posts on a specific subject ? Is there a type of post that you would like to read on a regular basis, on top of the Sunday Skills, Reader Question, Career Corner, and Share the Knowledge ? Please share your ideas with others in the comments section, or send me a message !
